The Carroway

Another piece from the 30 Days of Monsters Challenge.

A solitary creature, to see a Carroway in the flesh is thought to be a portent of bad luck, only negated by acquiring a lock of the Carroway’s hair. 
The Carroway is thought to appear mostly to those lost in deep forests and stories say it will guide the lost traveller back to the right path. However, in payment for this guidance, the traveller will afterwards suffer some great misfortune. As the legend goes, if the traveller manages to get a lock of the Carroway’s hair and keeps it with them for the remainder of their life, they will be able to forgo any intended ill luck.
Descriptions of the Carroway vary from place to place but all include the recognisable sign of antlers growing from the Carroways skull and the black marks falling like tears below it’s eyes.
